In East Germany, Up Close and Personal, West German photographer Karlheinz Jardner recounts a trip he took to East Germany just after the reunification in 1990. The pictures make an interesting cultural document: from the shared toilet to the ubiquitous coal, the Trabants, the interiors and the shop windows carrying items long outdated in the west. (The above image is from another trip, the same year.)
