The entire city was covered in this eerie glow as a huge sandstorm hit Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia, yesterday. BBC has video, and the photos are from AP. It looks visually stunning, both the pictures of the storm approaching and those taken from within it, but I suppose it’s not only fun and games: it disrupted traffic on land and in the air, and several people were treated for breathing problems from inhaling sand.
