Nitrogen asphyxiation
Some people have suggested that the most humane method of capital punishment would be nitrogen asphyxiation. Now, putting aside the use of humane and capital punishment in the same sentence — I don’t support the death penalty in any shape or form (not even for Hitler!) — it’s an interesting idea. It’s supposed to be a completely painless, comfortable way to die. Essentially, you’d asphyxiate without feeling anything out of the ordinary, and you would experience the final loss of consciousness without any creepy feeling of “losing it” beforehand at all. It could be pumped into a gas chamber, with near zero chance of any uncomfortable or painful sensations to the executed.
At least, that’s the idea. I would rather see that people stopped condoning murder altogether, but if they absolutely have to, at least they could do it in the least torture-like way possible.
