Lesbians of Lesvos fed up of being called lesbians

In a move possibly even stupider than Greece’s failure to admit Macedonia into NATO because they claim Macedonia has no right to call itself Macedonia, a few residents of the Greek island called variously Lesbos or Lesvos are suing Greece’s biggest gay/lesbian association. They’d like the term “lesbian” to go out of public usage, so as not to offend the “true lesbians” of the island Lesbos. It’s so stupid it might have been a hoax, but there are other sources.

Way to go, prescriptivism! I’m looking forward to seeing this one crash and burn in court.
