Harvard Proposal to Publish Scholarly Research Free on the Internet

Harvard is considering publishing all papers online under open access, in a central repository, provided the author(s) don’t explicitly request they not be open—as opposed to now, when the author(s) must go to extra lengths to publish it online and when you’ll have to trawl for the authors’ homepages to find it. I’ve written about the lack of open access science before, and this is clearly a step in the right direction.
