I’m officially fed up with people who use nonsensical “screen names” on websites where they’re interacting with real people. In the AOL days, it made sense to pick a name like sweet16md1981 because “Jake” was not available. But most modern websites don’t make you pick an exclusive name. If you’re uncomfortable giving your full name, just use your first name instead. I am getting really sick of finding out that “brooklyndude” liked my Vimeo videos, or zipzappizzazz is my tumblr follower. I have no idea who you people are, nor will I ever, unless you use a real name.

Obeastiality.

But is that really so? Most sites I use that require you to have a username, require it to be unique. Most also don’t allow you to choose a screen name that differs from your username. And as for the tumblr followers thing, the name that shows up is the url you’ve chosen for your tumblelog. So, unless you feel that your name should be the title of your tumblelog, “zipzappizzazz” is perfectly good. If Jakob Lodwick followed me on tumblr, it would show up as “obeastiality”.
